Piping Going in at Battle Creek!
Ground has been broken and piping installation is in the works, see photos below.
It is seeming more and more likely that we will have some “man-made” snow flying at Battle Creek this season!
Keep your fingers crossed and be sure to send your support for the winter recreation facility at BC in the form of emails, phone calls and letters to your local and state representatives.
We will continue to push this effort and will keep you up to date as progress is made.
Also, we, Endurance United, also needs your support. A great deal of effort and time on our part is going into making this happen. Please think of us as we come to a close of the 2013 calendar year. Thank you.
See you on the trails! Sincerely, Endurance United
Happy day after Thanksgiving everyone! Yesterday’s Thanksgiving Day “Turkey Day Trail Trot” was a huge success. Thank you to all who participated and assisted in the days festivities!
Results are now up. There is a link on our event page to the results. Link to event page.
We had a photographer out taking pictures and those pictures will be up in the next day or two, so please check back!
Also, snow will be on the ground very soon and we are an organization that runs a nordic skiing athletic program with many different options for all ages to participate (Link) and we also run a winter nordic ski racing series (Link), so come on out and join us!
Thank you all and we look forward to seeing you again next year!
Sincerely, Endurance United
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Saint Paul, MN – November 27th, 2013
- Sisu Has Rebranded to: Endurance United -
Sisu Foundation has chosen to rebrand its organization to the new identity of Endurance United. This is a move the organization has been considering for specific reasons and has decided that now is the right time to make the change.
Reasons for this change:
- The word Sisu is not an English word and must be explained to all who do not know it. This is difficult for a non-profit that must operate in many circles.
- There is a ski shop, that we all know and love, that has the word Sisu in its name and this is confusing to the consumer. We are an independent non-profit that needs all of the efforts we put into producing good events, providing great training and being a community leader coming directly back onto us, which in so doing helps to support and grow our organization.
- Sisu, while it is a great name, is a limiting name. It is a Finish word that most Americans do not know and most of those who do know it think of nordic skiing when they hear it. Yes, we are about nordic skiing, but we are also about much much more. By using a combination of outdoor endurance activities our organization is working hard each day to unite people around the common goal of moving our community to live healthier lives. Thus, having a name that directly reflects this goal is very beneficial, which is why we have chosen to move forward as “Endurance United” with the known goal of “Moving Our Community.”
“This move did not occur over night. We had been considering making a name change during my time (as the former Executive Director)” stated Ben Popp, now Birkiebeiner Executive Director. Ben added, “When Chris (Sachs) became the new Executive Director I knew it was time for Sisu to make the name change and I am glad to see they have made it happen. This change was needed in order to usher in a new era of clear direction and meaning for the organization. I support this change and look forward to seeing where Endurance United will go from here.” Chris Sachs added “I am thankful to be the Executive Director during this time of change for the organization. As I have said before, I will give my very best to what is now Endurance United in order to help it be effective in accomplishing its goals and being a force for good within the community.”
All races and programs within our organization remain the same with the goal of only becoming stronger and more organized from this point forward. The Sisu name is a wonderful part of our history and we will continue to use it when we refer to the ski programing branch of our organization, so please continue to wear your clothing with pride, as all Sisu Skiers are a part of who we are.
To help usher in this new identity we have taken our six web sites and organized them into one. The new web site is http://www.enduranceunited.org This site is now live. Organizing this information into one site has been a monumental task. This is enduranceunited.org 1.0, and future updates will occur.
