A mix of Northwoods beauty and Urban vistas in the middle of Minnesota’s Capitol City, Saint Paul.

This event showcases the hidden network of trails that connect directly to Downtown Saint Paul.  Run along the mighty Mississippi, take in amazing views of the Saint Paul Skyline, find yourself in the hidden woods east of Downtown and finish on the beautiful hills of Battle Creek Regional Park.  Join us on this race and let us show you the hidden nature found just past your door step.

No refunds. The relay prices above are costs per team, not per person on the team. Online registration closed on August 21st at 8pm. There is in-person registration at bib pick-up and on race morning.

The first 400 runners to register will receive an Urban Trail Marathon event shirt. See photos of our recent GoGreen! Spring Run shirts for an example. Digitals of the Urban Trail Marathon shirt to be posted soon. Entry also includes post race food and beverages along with entry into race series standings.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Race shirt quantities will be established two weeks prior to the event and based on registration totals at that time plus a percentage for registrants within the final two weeks and for day of registrations. Register early and come to the bib pick up early to get your event shirt.

Refund/Cancellation/Exchanges/Bib Exchanges/Ghost Runners Policies

There are no refunds.  Distance exchanges can be made along with a $10 fee up to one week prior to the event.  After this time there are no distance changes. You must run with your own bib. Allowing someone else to run with your number is not allowed. If discovered the runner will be disqualified.  No ghost runners.  We put on an event for those who desire to participate.  Ghost runners will be asked to leave.

Pre-Race Bib Pickup and Expo

Pre-race bib pickup is mandatory.  Race morning will be hectic, thus please schedule in picking up your bib and race information the day before at the Bib Pickup Expo. Packet pick-up is at the Endurance United Training Center: 2500 University Avenue West, Suite A3 Saint Paul, MN 55114. It will be 4pm – 8pm on Friday, August 22nd. There will be signs directing you where to go. Bib’s will include safety pins, chip timing on the back of the bib and T-shirts for the first 400 runners registered.
- If you are registered as part of a relay you will each need to pick up your bibs separately so that each athlete can sign the event waiver.
- Race morning bib pick up can occur, but you must email us ahead of time at: events@enduranceunited.org If you do not email us it is possible that we will not bring your race bib to the start line. We appreciate you understanding on this item. Race morning will be busy.

*NOTE: This is a preliminary schedule and it is subject to change and it will be updated between now and race day. Between now and race day the schedule will next move to a “Tentative Schedule” and then to a “Final Schedule” Status.  In the event that the forecast is for warmer than normal temperatures the start of all distances may be moved up by 30 minutes.  This was done in 2013 and worked well, weather will dictate this decision.


Prizes will be awarded to the top three overall male and female winners of the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k and Marathon Relay as well as the top three from the following ages groups:

  • 50-59

UTM Course Descriptions – All Distances Are Point-To-Point!

Battle Creek and all of the park land just east of Downtown Saint Paul combine to be the Twin Cities premiere urban trail recreation area.  These race courses bring together scenic trails with urban vistas of Saint Paul and the mighty Mississippi River valley all while being in the Twin Cities’ backyard.  The terrain will entertain you and wooded trails will inspire any nature enthusiast.  We hope you find these event courses as compelling and beautiful as we do. The “Power of the Trail” is life changing.

Parking and Transportation

Parking at Start Area

Parking at the start area will be your own responsibility.  There is plenty of parking at lots and on the streets near the start line. Park in legal and appropriate locations and be sure to pay for parking if your parking calls for it.  Do not leave valuables in your vehicle and place belongings you leave in your car in a non-visible location.

Parking at Finish Area

The Battle Creek Recreation Center has a parking lot.  In the event the parking lot is full there is plenty of on-street cost free parking adjacent to the Rec Center parking lot. Please be courteous to our neighbors. Do not leave valuables in your car and place your belongings out of sight.

Transportation to the start area will be your responsibility.  We will provide bussing transportation from the finish line back to the starting line. The finish line to start line transportation will run throughout the day.  Relay teams must provide their own transportation to the different tag zones on the course.  The tag zones will be marked on the marathon course map soon.


This is an amazing course for spectating!  There are many access points to connect with your athletes and there is great road access to many points on the course. Feed stations will often be great places to connect with the athletes. Stay tuned as we will provide good detailed information about where spectators can easily follow their athletes as they experience the “Power of the Trail!”


We love our “outa-towners” that come to race with us! Thank you for being a part of the Urban Trail Series and in particular the Urban Trail Marathon event. There is plenty of lodging near the race course. What follows is a listing of lodgings that are all near the event course. Some are closer to the start and others closer to the finish, but all are very near the event and will offer good access to the course, food and great site seeing locations in Saint Paul and the Greater Twin Cities Area.

Weather can be variable in Minnesota so come prepared.  Always bring extra layers.  We will still hold the race during rain but will cancel for lightning or other severe weather.
